About Em Power Moore
Hi I’m Em Power Moore, an artist and educator.
My name is both a name and a positive sentence starter and it’s true, I love empowering more art making and creativity.
Just for the calm of it.
I grew up travelling the world, living in Papua Guinea, Canada and Indonesia before returning to my roots in Melbourne, Australia.
I started art teaching in 1996 after studying Visual Arts at The University of Melbourne and had my first solo art exhibition the same year, before starting my teaching career as a Secondary Art, Design and Technology Teacher.
In 2002 I completed my Masters in Arts Administration and followed my passion for the arts into the arts industry where I managed events, venues, galleries and directed children’s festivals.
I returned to the classroom after having children and spent ten joyful years as a primary art teacher. Also running community networks, workshops and professional learning for adults.
I live in Melbourne’s vibrant and multicultural inner west with my husband, teenagers and dog. I love swimming outdoors, yoga, exploring nature, roaming art galleries and wearing colour.
I make Art because it makes me feel great.
Creating art with your hands is a great stress release and helps you find more calm in your life.
I share the joy of art making through my workshops, socials, blog and e-news.
I’d love to inspire you to use creativity as a positive in your life too!
Can you find a creative moment today?
